Workers Compensation

While specific benefits vary by state, workers’ compensation plans generally provide several types of protection, including weekly wage replacement for injured employees, compensation for economic losses, and coverage for medical treatment and related expenses. In the event of a fatal workplace accident, benefits may also extend to the worker’s dependents.

Workers’ comp does not typically include general damages for pain and suffering or punitive damages. Because negligence is not a factor in determining eligibility, employees receive coverage regardless of fault, and employers receive protection from negligence lawsuits.
